Homer was the greatest poet in Greek ancient history. He wrote 'Iliada' and 'Odysseia' with the tales of ancient Greek in the world. It is said that he was blind, writing his tales with the help of his students.The poet, who has died in Ios, rests eternally in his grave placed in Plakotos beach. It is also believed that he was born in Ios, but at least 10 other cities claim the same. It is however known that his mother, Klitemnistra, was from Ios. When Homer came to Ios it is said that he asked some fishermen what were they carried. They answered that they were carrying  what they were accepting and also what they rejected (meaning the lice). The poet died without finding the answer...
